The Crossings Website
Privacy Policy
This is how the The
Crossings Technology Committee will handle
information gathered about you from your
visit to the website. The information
received depends on what you do when you
visit this site.
If you visit
this site to browse, read or download
information (e.g., Newsletter, Community
Events, Hot Issues):
The Crossings HOA
website usage log may collect and store: the
name of the domain and host from which you
access the Internet (for example, aol.com);
the Internet protocol (IP) address of the
computer you are using; the browser software
you use and your operating system; the date
and time you access the site; and the
Internet address of the website from which
you linked directly to this site. While the
log automatically stores this information,
this information is currently not used for
any purpose or released to any third
parties. It is possible that, in the future,
this information could be used to present
statistical data on usage of the site.
However, no personal identifying information
is collected, and any such use would be
clearly outlined in this privacy policy.
Additionally, this site does not use
"cookies."
If you choose to
identify yourself by sending email or when
using online forms (e.g., Crossings Survey):
The Technology Committee
will use your personally-identifying
information only to fulfill your request for
information or access to areas of the
website. If you consent, we may enter the
information you send into a database of
residents, e.g., an online Crossings
Residents Directory. However, inclusion in
that online directory will require your
specific consent. Crossings HOA and the
Technology Committee will NOT sell, rent,
exchange or release to third parties any
personal-identifying information you submit
via the website or in email to the
Technology Committee (or Listserv).
About the
security of the information you provide to
us:
If you send an email to
the Listserv, Technology Committee or
Webmaster, you should know that email is not
necessarily secure against interception. So,
if your communication includes sensitive
information that you prefer not to use in
email, please contact the Technology
Committee by postal mail or telephone rather
than email.

Cookie
A "cookie" is a
small text file that a website can place on
your computer's hard drive in order, for
example, to collect information about your
activities on the site or to make it
possible for you to use an online "shopping
cart" to keep track of items you wish to
purchase. The cookie transmits this
information back to the website's computer
which, generally speaking, is the only
computer that can read it. Most consumers do
not know that "cookies" are being placed on
their computers when they visit websites. If
you want to know when this happens, or to
prevent it from happening, you can set your
browser to warn you when a website attempts
to place a "cookie" on your computer.
